[BEHIND THE SCENES] FIRST SCRIPT READING FOR ‘AN UNDEFEATED MIND’

The first script reading for our upcoming fund-raising musical took place in 30 November and it’s the first time our entire cast and production team met each other.

Against all odds of COVID-19, we are finally able to kickstart the rehearsals and practices. During the 3-hour long rehearsal, we went through the scenes, act out the dialogues, test the song accompaniment and try out the dance movements.

Against all odds of COVID-19, we are finally able to kickstart the rehearsals and practices. During the 3-hour long rehearsal, we went through the scenes, act out the dialogues, test the song accompaniment and try out the dance movements.

Here’s some fun moments of the day!

Chinese Breakdown Moment

The scene was going well, the tension of dilemma was building up well and everyone in the room is listening intently on the advice the male lead’s senior is going to offer to him on how he should handle the dilemma. At that moment, the actor mistakenly read ‘爱屋及乌(wu)’ as ‘爱屋及鸟(niao)’ and the entire room just burst out into laughter. The Chinese character indeed look alike, kudos to the actor.

Song choice

Ever face a moment in karaoke when you are the only one who knows the song and you had to awkwardly sing through it, wishing every moment that the song will end soon?

That’s exactly how it felt when one of the song accompaniments was played and the tune was just way too old school for most of the people in the room. There was an awkward silence before everyone knew that the opinion was mutual and broke into laughter again.

Funny couple shots

When we say we are productive, we meant it. We managed to squeeze in time for official photoshoot during the three hours too! As we have a mix of professional actors and volunteered actors, we started to see the professional ones taking the limelight as the photographer snap the shots. It was particularly interesting to see the couple shot taking for our two senior actors – Ms Catherine Sng and Mr Abdullah Tarmugi, who will be playing Old Rose and Old Patrick respectively. Let’s see how our veteran actress try to lead the newbie volunteer actor to bring the correct mood and moment to be captured.
